Mu wa ha ha! *kting!*

That is the sound of someone checking an item off their bucket list. I've always wanted to do an RPG cover. Heck, I've always wanted to be a good enough artist to be worthy to do an RPG cover. Lately the magnificent Mr. James Dawsey decided to give me the opportunity to do the cover for an upcoming release by Vigilance Press, a game called "Arthur Lives!", created by Jason "Doctor Comics" Tondro. This is pretty cool stuff! Mr. Tondro - or I should say Professor Tondro, actually, really knows his stuff when it comes to Arthurian legend, and has in fact only just finished teaching a semester of it at the college which employs him. He clearly has a passion for things Arthurian, as well as an amazing amount of Geek Cred (tm). You can hear him talk about it, and about the modern fantasy game he created, in this podcast: vigilancepress.podbean.com/201…

Man...just from the little I heard there, I wish I could have taken that class. I bet it was something!

Also of interest in said podcast (and the item which takes up the first half of it or so) is a discussion by Chris "WatchGuard" McElvy about his latest contributions to Vigilance Press's superhero RPG line, "Mutants and Masterminds" - also cool stuff. You should check it out!

I came here after seeing the aforementioned cover. So... how much might a cover like that cost for someone not quite as cool as James Dawsey?

I am a huge Arthurian legend buff.. right now I'm reading the Vita Merlini by Geoffrey of Monmouth. It's the first text to ever mention Morgan Lefay-- though in this text she's called Morgan or Morgen, and she is the leader of the nine sisters at the Fortunate Island where Arthur was taken after his fateful battle at Camlan.

Morgan Lefay is one of my favorite characters in the myth.

:)

If you're available, I'm working on some new WatchGuard stuff that could probably take advantage of your talents. ;)

Well, James is already talking to me about doing some more things for Vigilance so I don't think I'll be available soon...but maybe it was your stuff he has in mind? (I honestly don't know!) :)

...and here I thought the sound would be 'Ch-Ching!' But that must be the sound of you cashing that check. :)

Seriously, Denise, when I started talking to Jason about this project, I *knew* you were the first person I wanted to talk to about the cover. I was so delighted when you took me up on it. The process of coming up with the ideas was a blast, and I am *SO* thrilled with the final product. I can't wait to get that kickstarter going so we can get even more of your too-sweet art for the interior.
