This time I was going more for the mood and feel of the scene rather than trying to capture specific details. Don't know how much time it actually took, owing to having started it weeks ago, getting distracted by many other things, and only just taking it up again to finish it today. Needless to say, the original photo is much nicer than my sad attempt at a speedpaint. Still, I like the mood. Something about it reminds me of the Forest Between the Worlds in C.S. Lewis's Narnia books.

Whoa!
I see where you're coming from in the Wood Between Worlds (although, the light would need to be greener, I think, to portray it...and the trees would probably be leafier) and this is AMAZING! I really love the lighting in this; it reminds me of the forest after the fire in Bambi...Or the section in Fantasia 2000...
